“A £2 million refit in a live airport terminal comes with real pressure - tight deadlines, high expectations, and no room for delays. Our job was to make sure the structural side never slowed anything down.”
Live terminal, landlord requirements and fit-out interfaces.

What the brief was — and what we delivered.
MJC supported the major refit of WHSmith's flagship Birmingham Airport store, a 6,000 sq ft travel retail space delivered in a live terminal.
Project scope
The store combines travel essentials, tech, health and beauty, local architectural references and a bespoke LED fascia. The structural design had to accommodate signage, interior zones, equipment loads and service coordination.
MJC's role
MJC provided structural design, site surveys and design coordination, working with Bond Project Services and Brookerflynn Architects to keep the refit buildable, compliant and aligned with airport delivery standards.
The work, on site.
