Structural design for BrewDog’s first UK airport location with SSP

MJ Consulting Engineers was proud to support the delivery of the new BrewDog Tap Room at Gatwick Airport’s North Terminal - a landmark project marking BrewDog’s first UK venture in partnership with SSP UK & Ireland.

Opened on 4 December, the venue brings BrewDog’s distinctive brand to airside passengers, offering craft beer and food in a high-impact, high-footfall setting.

Our Role

MJC provided full structural consultancy for the project, including detailed design and coordination of the steelwork structure. Our work ensured the new venue could be constructed efficiently within the constraints of a live terminal environment, while meeting strict airport design and safety standards.

Key contributions included:

Structural design for the internal steel framework

Detailed and coordinated drawings to support efficient delivery

Close collaboration with architects, contractors, and client teams throughout the fit-out process

Our design integrated seamlessly with the architectural vision while maintaining full compliance with airport regulations and operational requirements.

A Collaborative Result

The BrewDog Tap Room combines bold interior design with structural precision. MJC’s engineering input helped bring this concept to life - safely, efficiently, and without disruption to terminal operations. The result is a standout hospitality space that offers travellers a premium experience before their flight.
